I'm a beginning runner with a football (soccer) background and was wondering whether my bodyweight would be good for a 5k runner or not. I'm 5'11ft/182cm and my current bodyweight is around 154lbs/70kg. I'm naturally pretty skinny but have packed on some muscle by lifting during my time as a footballer. I hope someone can give me some feedback on my bodyweight. Thanks in advance.
To put this into perspective, Rupp is 5'11 and 134lbs. So I would say ur ideal weight is 134.
Currently you have a healthy BMI of about 21.5. I can agree with the other poster that a general ideal racing weight is a BMI of about 18-19. I don't recommended trying to lose a lot of weight quickly though. Just run and train normally, but do some maintenance lifts to not lose a lot of strength, however don't try to get any "mad gains".
Rupp is 5'10.05". He is not 5'11".
We're twins, I'm 5'11" @153# same lean build. I find trying to lose any weight challenging at this point. I used to be a lifter and i weighed 180# when i started running, I cant lose any more weight easily unless i start running 60+ mpw or something. I might have to cut back my caloric intake even more i guess? I eat pretty clean and i don't drink any sugary sodas or anything. So o would have to limit portions.
