New HS Mid Distance Coach here looking for some feedback.
Our team has seven meets scheduled indoors and I want to give our 800/1600 guys a week away from running their normal events. But I would still like for them to participate in the meet this weekend and be there with their teammates.
Would racing in the open 400 and then the 4x400 about 45min later be a good "speed endurance" type workout for 800/1600 guys? Or would they be much better off not racing and doing a specific workout.
Up until this point in the year we have kept things pretty simple and non-specific (tempos, cruise intervals, fartleks, hill sprints) but I want them to start some light speed work soon to be ready to run fast at the end of March.
