"THE 2017 TARAWERA ULTRAMARATHON RACE
The race has three different distances, the 62, 87 and 102km. You can complete the 87km option as part of a 2 or 4-person team or complete the 62km distance as a 2-person relay team. The course is not too hilly, runnable, scenic and point to point. All three distances finish in Kawerau. Everyone receives a finishers medal."

Mike Wardian the same guy who won the 7 marathons is also running this ultra? Does he ever stop?
Crazy enough, Wardian is doing this, Leadville, WS100, Boston Marathon and about 10-14 other ultras this year. The dude needs Rehab.
Oh and Wardian said in an interview with Ginger Runner that he is also doing Hurt 100.
I think he sets the CR by 35-45 minutes or more.
Has a couple of kids too, right?

My prediction is Jim Walmsley will win in course record time.
Wake me up when he actually does a race with competition. I was hoping to see him lime up with the other fast trail guys who ran the xc championships. Would be interesting to see him up against Gray, Smythe and King!

You've never heard of Jonas Buud?
He finished 4 minutes behind King (6:27) at the world 100k in 2014 but came back in 2015 to win and run 5 minutes FASTER (6:22) than King ran in 2014.
Buud has also finished 2nd place at the most competitive ultra in the world. (Comrades)

So go out there and beat him. It's easy to sit behind a computer and type on a message board.
The comparison to a fast guy on xc course is crap. You are talking about a guy (Walmsley) who specializes in longer distances. There is JUST a bit of difference in running 100k on trails (although I don't know how technical a course like Tarawera is..if it's a mountain course, it's probably going to be technical) and running a what, 12km course that has grass and a few rolling hills?
Here is hoping for a great time and placement for our own "jaguar1" at Tarawera. For those that are new around here, she has has been an active poster on the boards for years (I think 2010) and offers some good training insight. We love you here on the message boards, Camille. Well, most of us do...and the rest, well, this is LetsRun after all. LOL

From her posts she seems very track and road oriented, I wonder how she'll do with the hills. Even though the course is deemed runnable it still has them.
So that's Sage, Karl, Camille who post here in recent memory from the ultra world using their own identities. I wonder how many more contribute or troll.
