I'm doing the Man versus Horse marathon in June this year. It's not really a marathon in length but 22 miles, and it's all over the trails of Llanwrtyd Wells in Wales. Anyhow, I'm about 10 years out from my college running days but I try to be somewhat competitive. Currently doing about 40 miles/week on the treadmill because I live in Wisconsin and it sucks outside. I think I'm probably in low 17s 5k shape and around 1:20ish for the half but I honestly haven't raced in over a year.
Any tips as to what's the best way to optimize my chances of beating as many horses as I can? Do horses go out hard and die at the end?
