Coach left it up to us whether to run today, doing 1000 and mile race tomorrow. They are a few hours apart, I think. I never know if I should rest of run the day before.

A lot of the wisdom I have heard/read is that if u typically run every day then stick to it just reduce volume/intensity. Even if a shakeout
I'd recommend a double workout today too..why risk it?
Run 2-3 miles and 5 VERY easy strides (~2-mile pace).
thank you!
Another suggestion to run easy and do some strides today. That is a pretty typical prerace shakeout.
If you're "training through" this race, it should be a typical easy run, so 5 or 6 miles if you're running about 45 mpw, 7 or 8 miles if you're around 60mpw, as examples.
If you're looking to have a day off of training to really focus on tomorrow's event, make it about 2/3rds your typical easy day.
Either way a few strides a little slower than race pace after can help you feel loose tomorrow.
Typically taking the day off entirely risks making you feel a little tight the next day.
