Anybody use? Considered buying but it is a bit on the expensive end. If people think it's definitely worth having I would probably buy.

absolutely worth every penny. really don't need to say any more, it's simply worth it. very versatile and so rugged that you'll never buy another one, I'm assuming my grandkids will be able to use it considering how beefy it's built.
Have one, just don't love it. Currently I prefer a foam roller / PVC roller to get what feels like a deeper massage. I suppose you can get a deep and hard massage with the R8 I just don't prefer it
I like mine.
It does eat your shins, but not to the level that it bruises unless you easily bruise. The pressure is good - better than I'd usually do on my own - though not as good as I sometimes get when aggressively using "The Stick". It feels like less effort to use, so I use it more often than I would with a roller or stick.
I don't regret buying it for $100 but I'll usually buy about one miscellaneous $100 hobby items a month second guessing or impacting my budget. On the other hand, if that's the type of money that you'd only spend a few times a year then it probably wouldn't be worth it unless you are super serious about your post training routine.

The R8 is hands down the best running related product I've bought in years. I get really tight IT-bands and this thing just gets in there. Definitely worth it.

Try cutting either a 5" piece of PVC in half or if can get the cardboard tubing from a carpet roll cut that. When you work on your calves place the half cut tubing over your shin! You can line it with foam if you want to.
Well worth the money if you have a tight It band, hip flexors or calves! Wish it was adjustable though or if it came in various sizes.
I have two different size foam rollers, a couple of lacrosse-ball-sized rollers, several The Sticks, and the Roll Recovery R8.
I use each for different applications. The R8 is great for the upper leg. It reaches areas that are hard to reach with any of the other tools. It's also good for taking with you to in a gym bag, which I can't do with the foam rollers.
I'd buy it again.
Combined, the cost for all the above is about the same as 3-4 visits to a PT. I'd call it money well spent if it keeps me healthy.
