Is your Coach allowed to charge you for entry's to a meet in the NAIA? And make you arrange your own travel/pay for gas? This is not red shirting, I am wearing my team singlet and representing my varsity NAIA program. I shall not say which school I am from, only that I feel cheated and schafted. Please enlighten me.
coach is saying you are not worth the expense to the team budget but if you want to run pay the entry fee and show up.
I'd report it to the NAIA Ethics Committee for them to look at. The coach's salary is paid out of a university fund for the team - that same fund should be there to cover all athletes' costs, first and foremost.
Have you asked your coach? Why not? Perhaps your teams budget is so small/limited they can't afford it. If your're not satisfied with the coaches response you could always ask the AD after you've talked with the coach.
Not an issue with money, I am more concerned if he is allowed to do it is all.

Hmm, before you get on your high horses try and remember that as an athlete who works over 14 hours a week, enrolled in a full course load, and trains my butt off everyday that yes every dollar matters. I was fine with it for a while, but my friend in the NCAA says it wasn't allowed. All I want is clarity, so please instead of trying to be smart help me answer my question.

Is this every meet, or just some particular meets that most of the rest of the team is not attending?
Most of the team is attending, as far as I know.
I had a similar issue with my coach/program. They don't have to organize your travel, however if it is a certain distance (I believe over 50 miles) then they have to pay for it. Furthermore, if they enter you into the meet representing your university then yes your program must cover the meet fee. As per NAIA rules.
Are you on the 'travel squad'? Maybe the coach has the budget for 5 distance guys and you're not making the cut? The meet can accommodate you, but you've got to pay for it.
I think OP's question is more on the lines of is he/she allowed to pay for it. I'm not familiar with NAIA indoor rules.
Speak first to your coach or an asst coach about it, then if not satisfied, speak with your school's AD. Then take it higher if need be, but start there, in your own school athletics system.
Doesn't hurt to ask the NAIA Center.
