Amen. I agree with you.
I first started noticing people, mainly young women (less than 35), saying "perfect" repeatedly in a single conversation about two years ago. It has become more prevalent since then. I recently began to wonder where this new "thing" started. So I asked a bank teller today in a very nice way where she picked up saying "perfect". She did not know. She did not even realize she was doing it. A couple of months ago I asked another woman the same thing and she did not know either.
I figure there must have been something in the recent past that influenced this relatively new constant use of the word, often misuse. But I have not found anyone to help pinpoint why this started and has "caught on".
CAN ANYONE ANSWER HOW REPEATEDLY SAYING "PERFECT" GOT STARTED?
I also wonder where "like" got started too. But that one is too likely old to figure out where it started.
