Triple Jump or 400m? Where Do I Have More Potential?

Hi! I'm a portuguese guy with 23 years, that started to do T&F for fun 2/3 years ago, this after a scoliosis operation, I'm not that good, but I like to do that, and I think that I can do that more Try Hard yet, If I feel that I have space to improve more ( I was a bit lazy at first ). I do 12.62m in TJ (PB), but with very much jump training and made 60.7s in 400m (2 Days Ago), without any aerobic/lung training, and less speed training than a normal sprinter. We have 2 minimal marks, one for national championships and another for points:

Points Mark:

12.00m - Triple Jump ( I do points)

53.44s - 400m ( I think that I Can Improve here in some months more than in my rest of life in triple).

National Championships Mark:

14.20m - Triple Jump

50.04s - 400m

I know that Is impossible to reach National Championships, this year, But If I train with determination, what is my best potential event? For points?

I didn't understood.

12.62m in Triple Jump? 688 Points in IAAF Scoring Table, equivalent to 11.72s in 100m or 2h39m58s in Marathon.

your triple jump is much better than your 400. even considering you have trained for the TJ i would say focus on that.

i don't want to discourage you, but 60.7 for the 400m is not good, even with no training. 12.62m is a much more impressive mark. i think you should train for that and try to get to 13.50m. after, who knows?

Your TJ is better, as stated, but somebody "without any aerobic/lung training" isn't giving an honest 400 time trial. The 400 is 45% aerobic. (For me: there is a huge gap between my 400 when I am in poor aerobic condition versus good aerobic condition.)

Probably triple jump. You could realistically improve to 53 in the 400 but 50 flat is a whole different level. There's no way to know until you try though.

I do 60m at 7.80s, I made the first 200m in my 400m to 27.3s, last 200m were the problem, I think that I can reach 54/55 very easily, maybe in next Summer months, but yes, I'm better as Triple Jumper, I'm thinking in training 400m to do 4x400m for my club, as 3Âº/4Âº best element, only that, not as my first event.

Free English lesson: it is "3rd" and "4th", which is short for "third" and "fourth."

Anyway, your triple jump has more potential. I think you should train for both, because it sounds like you will enjoy both.

Also, I am jealous of the European club track system. I wish we had that in america.
