Seen it live....SOLO!!
you mean she ran solo and lapped traffic, without pacers in early January? All the distance coaches on here said you had to be able to use speculative times because you couldn't line up in an early season meet and run up to your capabilities. You have to "speculate" i.e. lie about your shape to get into a heat with lots of people faster than you in order to run fast.
How on earth did she do it?

uhh- she is not an NCAA athlete. I think you are in the wrong thread.
The whole race is on the Scottish athletics facebook page. Smashed liz mcolgans British record. The other girls only ran 3k but she still led them
This is not a big surprise because Laura Muir is a very exciting runner.
Laura is #2 on the all-time Brit female favourite list.
Jo Pavey is #1 on the all-time Brit female favourite list.
Only two seconds of Shalane's AR, running alone the last mile!
Muir has struck me as a born 3000 runner. She seems capable of sub-8:30 soon.
Awesome race for Muir
Based on the 1500m results from 2016, I hope that Laura prevents the slow, tactical races in 2017 by jumping straight to the front to push the pace when the race dawdles.
Perhaps Muir and Rowbury can share the pacing duties. They both placed extremely well when they ran fast but lost out on a high place when they got stuck in a sit and kick effort
With her 3:55 1500m and at just 23, she might stand a chance to break 14:30 and 30:00 10000m some day.
You can see the race here:

It's quite odd. The rest of the field are all running a 3000m race. So Muir wasn't actually racing anyone.
Ran it tonight at the GAA Miler Meet in Glasgow. This places her 9th on the World all time list. On top of it she ran the vast majority of the race alone (as the rest of the field was running a 3000m race)...

Yes I was down at the Emirates watching, pretty impressive stuff. Was just checking and it was a big chunk off the old UK rec (McColgan 15.03).

Easy, I say low 8:20 this year, possibly under 8:20 in race with Ayana pulling her along.
Laura Muir is amazing.
My favorite part is when she has just finished the race and then she curls up into a tiny ball in a complete collapse on the track.

total doper. I knew it as soon as she popped that 3:55 in paris, but suspected it for a while. when the screws are tightened in big championships she disappears, can't risk the regimen with the doping controls. classical drug user profile IMO sorry just being honest
Laura Muir just ran 14:49 for 5k indoors covering the last k in 2:49
Where was this? More details please.
Very impressive on so many levels.1) Breaks nearly 25-year old record.2) Only her 2nd ever 5k.3) She's clearly not resting on her laurels after a great 2016 as it's freaking January 4.4) I think she'll be dominating Simpson and Rowbury this year in the battle for best NAB.

In her first outing of 2017, the Scot clocked 14:49.12 to destroy the record of 15:03.71 set by compatriot Liz McColgan-Nuttall back in 1992. Muir also covered the first 3000m in a time of 8:59.39, inside the qualifying standard to run the distance at the European Indoor Championships in Belgrade this March.
What is also noteworthy is the fact that she ran 16 laps out on her own, steadily cranking up the pace.

agreed
I’m a D2 female runner. Our coach explicitly told us not to visit LetsRun forums.
Great interview with Steve Cram - says Jakob has no chance of WRs this year
