Amazing by a 16 year old!

They'll soon convince him to switch to Nordic skiing.
Do we do this in America? I've had several VO2 Max tests (81.1 mL/kg) but my threshold correlated with my heart rate (168 bpm, max 193) but I've never heard of a threshold test where you reference mph.
How does this test work?
He's referring to his lactate threshold. Probably did a combo vo2/lactate test. Normally given in meters per second in Europe.
His hips are dipping pretty badly - he must be very fatigued. Wouldn't that suggest that this is beyond a true threshold pace?
Marius Bakken´s LT was few days before 13:06 5k 2:53 per km (20,8 km/h). I wonder how low was Jakob´s lactate at LT. He´s clearly done plenty of mileage and LT runs.

Or maybe hip dipping loads muscles elastically and increases efficiency?
ie: you are a core junkie and think maintaining a plank like body is better and have no proof of that.
I believe these tests have athletes 'run to failure'. Picture may have been taken after crossing threshold.

that absolutely is what it looks like. what pace is he running at at this point?
Does this mean that he will be running 4M tempos at 5:00/M? That seems about right for a 3:39 1500m runner, which is what I'm assuming he'll be running in several months.

It's especially impressive running for someone who professes himself to be the "dab king."
If he continues this way, he may end up as the slowest of the three brothers
Too much, too early perhaps?

If you look carefully at the picture, it looks as if he's giving you the middle finger..
Puts his half-marathon ability around 1:05. Not bad for a 16yo miler!
Looks like a young Pre.
I do know that failing to maintain level hips while running contributed to some extensive ITBS problems that put me on the shelf for years, so I'm pretty sensitive to such things.

That has no bearing on how other people cope. Some people get crippled from running in general.

Ha! That's almost certainly the finger they're pricking for lactate testing between each stage. If he keeps it clear while running, then they can just squeeze it to get more blood instead of having to prick him again.
RIP: D3 All-American Frank Csorba - who ran 13:56 in March - dead
RENATO can you talk about the preparation of Emile Cairess 2:06
Running for Bowerman Track Club used to be cool now its embarrassing
Hats off to my dad. He just ran a 1:42 Half Marathon and turns 75 in 2 months!
Great interview with Steve Cram - says Jakob has no chance of WRs this year
Rest in Peace Adrian Lehmann - 2:11 Swiss marathoner. Dies of heart attack.
