Incredible runner with range
I believe there are quite a number including Wilson Kipketer. Both Komen and Kipketer were the favorites in their respective events for 1996 Olympics but both didn't make it to the games.
Then there's Ron Clarke: 18 world records and only an Oly bronze (plus a gold that Zatopek gave him)
Does O.G. mean Olympic Games or Olympic Gold? There are many equal or better who did not win gold. If you just mean a medal of any color Komen is near the top, but also Wilson Kipketer, Shaheen, Henry Rono and some others in the discussion.

It means Original Gangster
Komen would be on the list. Maybe add Paul Tergat as well.
Actually, that title belongs to Alan Webb. F'n stud. Runs 3:46 for a full mile in front of a couple people. Nobody can do that. Not even EG, he needed the help of 10,000+ people.

Why has this thread survived long enough for me to have to swoop in and remind you all that Wilson Kipketer won silver in Sydney and bronze in Athens?

Kipketer was stopped by the Kenyan federation.
Ummmm..... Ever hear of Jim Ryun?

No one in this thread understands what "never win an OG medal" means

…which makes it a typical LRC thread.
Is this a surprise?
No.
O.G. = Olympic Games or Olympic Gold
Feel free to answer how you like.
No Olympic medals:
Henry Rono
Renaldo Nehemiah
No Olympic Golds:
Jim Ryun
Butch Reynolds
Mose Kiptanui
Steve Cram
Paul Tergat
Greg Foster
Leroy Burrel
Asafa Powell
Wilson Kipketer
Evidently, Uncey
Agreed on Komen, Kipketer, Tergat.
I'm surprised nobody named Wilson Kipsang.
Also, Stephen Cherono (Shaheen) FFS!
Sihine
Lagat
Khannouchi
There are a ton of marathoners that could be added to the list.

Burrell has a relay gold, but nothing individually (false started in 92).

Perhaps, maybe, but no guarantee he would have won gold. In 1996 or 2000, he would have faced E' G had he raced the 1500 or Geb in 5000. I can't say for sure he would have beaten either one of them, especially in a championship type race. Komen's greatest exploits can in 1997 and both of his records came in time trial setups.
Renaldo Nehemiah on the other hand, had he competed in the 1980 Olympics, no one was going to beat him. He was the world record holder and still getting better.
