Sprinter vs Distance Runner vs Triathlete vs Crossfitter vs MMA: who survives the Zombie Apocalypse the Longest?

Way to many flaws in your theory.

1) Zombie don't sprint, so a sprinter would never have to go all out.

2) If they could sprint, they would get the distance runners first.

3) Triathletes are used to violence and don't need the devices. They also are used to bad conditions.

4) Crossfiters could actually lift themselves over obstacles or create ones to stop the zombies.

5) MMA fighters have better cardio than you think. They also have a lot of strength (see #4)

1. Crossfitter: muscular endurance, can climb, can lift, decent cardio, pretty good at sprinting

2. Distance runner: skinny, doesn't need a lot of food. Probably able to sprint faster than Triathletes and MMA Fighters, does great in long distance chases.

3. Sprinter: When surrounded may be able to run through and push through a crowd. Decent upper body for lifting.

4. Triathlete: fairly thin yet muscular from swimming meaning they can lift and climb to an extent. Not much in terms of swimming and biking in an apocalypse. Probably not a great sprinter but not horrible either.

5. MMA Fighter: Nothing but muscle... Can squish a walkers head and do great in hand to hand but as mentioned, close combat is not advised. Can also lift. Not great cardio.

I visit prepper/gun forums where the Zombie Apocalypse is an ongoing discussion. You guys are way off.

In the Zombie Apocalypse, planning and situational awareness trumps fitness, speed, and endurance.

Do you have a gun? Can you kill at close range quietly using only available kitchen utensils? Do you have a bug out bag? Do you even know what a bug out bag is? Do you have a plan to meet up with loved ones if you're not in the same location when the SHTF? Do you own a Humvee or have access to a National Guard Armory? Can you live off the land, start a fire using only twigs, and make your own clothing out of squirrel pelts?

If not, you will become what zombies refer to as "dinner."

Good call on the bug out bag. That gives a little bit of an edge to the triathlete, who will already have enough Gus, Gels, Stingers, Clif Bars, UCAN bars, Powerbars, Shots, SaltSticks, Glukos, Bonk Breakers, Larabars, Hammer Gels, Sports Beans, and pretty much anything made by Advocare stashed into their saddlebag to last them three and a half weeks.

Everything else is assumed. Being able to start a fire or jump start a Humvee won't do you much good if you are 5'6" 280lbs.

The ability to plan is only equally as important as the ability to EXECUTE a plan.

1. When fleeing a thousand walkers, you will need to be able to outpace them over an extended period. Since Usain Bolt probably can't even FINISH a mile, much less run a 5 minute mile, sprinters are toast.

2. Probably true. But since they cannot sprint, the distance runners live.

3. Used to violence? If that is a reference to the "Triathlete punching a woman to win a race" thread, kudos. Otherwise, please explain :-)

5. Agreed on MMA cardio, however, only some of that cardio is running-specific. Maybe enough to bump them above crossfitters.

I don't think you have an accurate perception of the average MMA fighter. Think: Matt Hughes, not Brock Lesnar.

Bodybuilder wins. He will begin rubbing tanning lotion over himself, posing, and taking selfies. This will inspire the zombies to better themselves. Be all you can be!!!

I'm well versed in all sports but Crossfit, but I'm around them a enough in the gym to know how they typically are so here my predictions.

Distance Runners and Triathletes will last the longest: Triathletes and Runners are a exceptionally smart and informed group of people and the majority of them will foresee the Apocalypse before it happens. A long with that ( above average triathletes and runners) have good functional fitness and loads of endurance to aid them in unforgiving environments. Lastly most Triathletes/Runners I've met are loners or have small circles which will decrease their chances of getting infected. Between the two I think the Runner will out last the Triathlete. Triathletes come off as vain and socially aloof compared to runners. Having the ability to socialize can come in handy when you have to work in groups.

Crossfitters/Sprinters are the same type of people and do similar workouts in the gym. They are fairly smart and have great functional fitness but their downfall will be their the lack of cardiovascular endurance like their distance running counter parts. When it comes to running, zombies don't get tired due to lack of brain activity which is why having an above average mile time can come in handy.

I wouldn't be surprised if MMA fighters would be the first to die or get infected. Some are smart, but when your hands are registered you get a natural cockiness that makes you think you can take on everything. Fighting a zombie is the last thing you'd want to do because one bite from the zombie will risk you of infection.

I guess some LR posters really do live in mom's basement.

Distance runners will be the first to realize that the Zombie Apocalypse is here, just as they are always the first to spot the body out on the trail, because they are always the first ones out on the trail in the morning. They can then begin fleeing from said rural area, staying away from major population centers and roads, and so keeping away from most of the Zombies.

Definitely not the sprinter. If it is a scramble for resources the MMA guy will win otherwise those that can go long times and distances without food will have a large advantage.

Wow you idiots have never heard of the Diaz Brothers? Mma has a lot of diverse athletes. Some are cardio freaks some are sprinter like some are strong some are quick. They constantly fight and train with injuries so that alone would give them the biggest advantage because after a week of fleeing through wilderness most people would be injured.

None of them. I am going with a fencer...maybe an archer.

You don't have to be anything to survive zombies, all you have to to is get on a mountain bike and ride out of town. Stay in the woods where there are no people and sleep in trees. The most zombies you will possibly run into is one or two at a time. Catch and eat critters. Build a tree fort which zombies can't climb up. If you see the occasional zombie on the ground in the morning, shoot it in the head with your bow and unlimited supply of arrows.

Rescue a bear cub and raise it as a guard bear to watch your back when you're out and about.
