Yea but it wasn't even close and no one was out there directing me.Just sitting in the car.I should at least get something. What about almost getting hit by a car?

He was about a minute. You could not see that from the turn. The way it was set up.

As a master you should be old enough to know how to learn the course and run that last mile in your warm-up.

Must have been a small race to have a gap that big between you and the next person ahead of you.

It was only a 5k. Move on as it is not worth the aggrevation.

the one time I beat Michael Wardian was because of a similar issue -- no course marshal at a key turn, and he took the wrong turn on a guess based on the course for a different race held on partially overlapping course.

the race director gave him and the two others with whom he was running duplicate prizes [I forget what, but I think it was a small amount of cash].

I thought that was reasonable. telling you that it's your fault for not tapping on police car window to ask is a bit ridiculous.

Yea but i took my family out their.I drove an hour there and all i got for my effort is running close if not over an extra 3/4 of a mile and nothing. It was not in question that i was going to get 2nd over all and 1st master.There was only a bit left and even after running the extra bit i almost caught the guy.The people at the turn were sitting in the car(doors closed and windows up) not out their car directing people. It was also a safety issue as i ran onto a busy road.His respose was i should have knocked on the window.Crazy.

You cared enough to click on thread and respond to the OP.

I look at a course map before I go to the race. When I get there I drive the course if that is possible. After a short warm up, I run the course as a regular warm up. When I am running the race, I not only know the race course, I know how to run the course or where I can push or make a move. If I like the race course, I run it again as a cool down.

I ran a race last year that had a cop driving as the lead vehicle. We got to 2.25 miles into the 5k (I was leading) and the cop turns into the park where we started but we still had a little more than a half mile loop to run on city streets. I continued on the course and luckily everyone else followed and ran the correct course. If we had turned and followed the cop car, we would have had some great times and a big mess.

KNOW THE COURSE!!

You must be the race director. Mark your dam course.Have proper people at marks.Or don't put on a race.

The course is clearly marked. This clown can't get in the top 100 so he pulls this kind of stunt to inflate his fragile ego.
