This is insane.
This is insane.
That would be like me going 4:35, 4:31, 4:27.
Very tough, but very doable. Cool workout.
And now you see why it is hilarious that Drew Hunter was put in the professional mile at Pre.

There must be a more subtle way to boast your times. On an unrelated note, this is like me doing...meh, who cares.

Yes I just get a kick out of anonymous bragging (sarc).
I'm putting it into perspective. To a guy who has never broken 4, doing it on the 3rd rep sounds insane, until you apply it to your own times. Then it's like, "oh that's a human effort after all."
no it's not. not at all. because it's not as impressive and it doesn't scale to infinity and needs to scale to human limits, because your last mile wasn't 3:57are you equating it to some slow dude running 8:35, 8:31, 8:27?!

He's the Olympic Champ. He can do what he wants.
I'm interested if Jenkins ran the same damn thing, just a step behind.
Interesting, why are they training at UW?

Fixed that for you.
What was the rest interval?

No, no we don't.
Looks like Jenkins did the same exact thing. If there was equal rest or more, doesn't seem like it's un-doable by any means. This guy in the best shape of his life is most likely a 3:46-7 miler, so it's really just 3 x 1 mile 5-10 seconds faster than 3K race pace which most people consider slightly faster than V02 pace.
Just goes to show how well these guys recover. Surely not an impossible session, but the toll on the body for mere mortals would be huge compared to how fast they recover.
I think the 3:57 is what makes it seem so out there. Steve Scott did a 4:03, 4:02, 4:01, 3x1 mile workout before Seoul in 1988 when he was 32. The recoveries were 10 minutes between each mile repeat. Don't know Centro's recovery interval. Impressive workout for Centro but as noted above, not super crazy for a guy who is likely capable of a 3:46 or so mile.
Unfortunately I just heard from Magness and he said it's "laughable" and they must be on drugs.

Really? Ok I'll spell it out for you. The professional milers can run 3:57 for their last rep in a set of three miles. 3:57 is not good enough to get put into the most prestigious mile event on the international athletics calendar.
There was another mile on that weekend in Eugene, and that is the one Hunter should have been entered in. Instead they put in Grice who soloed a 3:52.
if you're wondering why they did this in Seattle, it's because there's a snowstorm in portland right now and there are no indoor tracks around here

You failed spelling in school didn't you?
Nobody wanted to see him in the international mile. It was absolutely the right move, if Webb followed your advice Ryun might still hold the record. It doesn't matter what Centro can run the mile in.
