what weight was coe and ovett and now el g. as a 5'11 tall middle distance runner what weight should i be?
Don't concern yourself with that crap. Everyone's body is different. If you are running the miles and workouts that you need to be a competitive runner, your weight should follow without any effort on your part. Unless you got some serious obesity genes, weight shouldn't be a concern.
Ivan Heshko- Russian Middle Distance Runner that I look up to and relate to is 183CM(6FT tall) and is 72KG(159 Pounds).
The last poster is right but my body type is similar to Heshko (although I weigh more than him) and I think he is at a pretty Ideal weight. Look him up on Yahoo!
Here are some of Heshko's times.

Who gives a shit about weight!! Runners need to stop worrying about their weight and worry about their training. (Sorry, this strikes a nerve with me.) That two seconds per mile per pound theory is bullshit, it depends on what composes the weight (muscle vs. fat).
Your a joke! How can you go around accusing anybody? and to the poster that says don't worry about weight "one common thing that every distance runner has, the good ones anyway, is that they are skinny!
The actual scale weight is not as important as the body fat percentage. For 1500 runners especially, a certain amount of lean body mass (muscle) is required to have adequate strength and power for the anaerobic nature of the race. This amount of LBM will differ with each person. Just strength-train once or twice a week at 2 sets of 20 repetitions and you will not have to worry about adding excess muscle bulk. Once again, it is about being leaner and not necessary lighter. You will naturally become leaner with more intense training. One of my favorite quotes is "Fitness leads to leanness, but leanness does not necessarily lead to fitness."
there has been a lot of talk about weight recently on this board and that's pretty strange. Why not just eat whatever you want and workout hard. I hear that works pretty good.
Heshko is Ukrainian, not Russian.
