Finish Line looking to sell Jack Rabbit. Who should buy?

    I worked for Jack Rabbit for several years, including the Garts era. The real winners were the owners who sold initially, particularly those who stayed on and got paychecks even after selling their brands.

    What does the future hold for Jack Rabbit and their employees, many of whom are absolute experts in running retail?

    Dick's? Running Warehouse? Foot Locker? Some investment capital group? Break it up look for buyers at the local market?

    Some of these properties are extremely well-operated and generate great profits.

    Brojos, should the LRC community crowd source an offer and get some skin in the game with respect to running retail?

    Some of those properties maybe profitable but for most part running specialty stores our hanging on for dear life. For every Big River, Naperville Running or Red Coyote there are dozens just scraping by. Competing with Amazon, big box stores and the suppliers themselves has doomed most retail business models. To survive now you better be a wizard at grass root marketing and local community networking!

    Also, want to add that for fans, Jack Rabbit has some noteworthy alumni including:

    Bobby Mack

    Courtney Freirichs

    Mike Rutt

    Trent Briney

    There are many more. I think a lot of people just scoff at these stores because thy are part of the Finish Line family, but they are the real deal. The last time I was at one of the Running Fit stores, Ron Warhurst was just there hanging out and we chatted for a long time.
