What questions would you like Renato Canova to answer?

He's pretty good about answering questions so I feel like there's going to be some repetition.

1. Does he think the US collegiate system is good for developing top athletes?

2. Why doesn't the depth in Japanese distance racing translate to a stronger international-level force?

3. Does he think there is a better model by which international athletes can earn a living?

4. I've noticed that his athletes do a lot of hard workouts over the course of the week. How does he build them to the stage where they can handle and recover from all of that work?

5. Similarly, how does he judge when his athletes need some extra easy days?

Who does he think are the most overrated/underrated pros out there? Who should we keep an eye on these next few years?

I'd like to know how he identifies talent.

Does he just train anyone? Or does he use some kind of process to know who will be fast in the future?

Ask him to describe the sort of hill workouts that his Kenyan runners do. How steep (roughly), what duration, how many repeats, how often?

Ask him if he is interested in coaching a 46-year-old sub-3 guy to a new marathon PR.

1. If he has any info on K Bekeles training+if he thinks he can challenge Farah on the track

2. Who the biggest rising stars are

3. What kind of strength work/ gym work he thinks helps runners (core etc...)

Ask him about the unique form of Kenenisa Bekele - specifically the high trailing leg ankle inversion. Ask whether that is a result of special training or genetics.

Ask if he can say anything that he thinks most serious American runners would find surprising about the elite athletes he has trained.

How did Stephen Cherono (Shaheen) improve from being an 8.20 steepler to sub 8 in 2001. He was running 3.35-3.38 and 8.20 consistently during the 2001 season, then after the break (for the IAAF world champs) he becomes one of the greatest runners of all time (in a matter of 5 weeks).

Also ask if his runners ever do 3+ hr runs.

If he could be any brand of running shoe, which would he be, and why?
