9 of the top 10 HS boys (by PR) will be running NXN this year. The only top 10 guy missing (Eckstein) actually came 11th in his region, so he simply didn't qualify (he had a bad race).

Affolder, currently ranked 11th, is the "highest ranked" runner who only tried to qualify for Footlocker (and not NXN).

NXN is the clear winner this year.

The national champion will be crowned at NXN.

And will be most years going forward. Footlocker screwed this up years ago and the steady march toward NXN was easily foreseeable.

You can't just look at PR in cross country. A fast time usually just means a pancake or short course. Milesplit has affolder as number 3, despite his PR being slower than others below him.

Yes, it makes sense. Most top HS runners come from top school programs. As a coach, even if you have one superstar, it makes more sense to want to bring your whole team to a national championship, rather than one or two runners. NXN offers that opportunity. Pretty quickly, top runners (in weaker programs) will want to have the chance to run against the best (who are now mostly running NXN) and therefore choose to go to NXN.

NXN has been the top race for girls for the last 4 years. I believe that this is the first year that the FL boy winner will not be the national champion.

Dyestats Top 30 as of 11/17 (10 days ago) - they generally update them every 2 weeks, so we will have a much better idea come Wednesday/Thursday once the rankings are posted. I believe this will be the 2nd to last update (with ALL state finals, as well as NXN and Footlocker qualifying meets in the books).

Says who? I think last year it would have been one heck of a race between Kelati and Rainsberger.

Not only will the top individuals be at NXN but Footlocker NE had 92 finishers in the girl's champ race and 139 in the boy's champ race.....paltry numbers to say the least as far as totals, FL had between 700-800 participants while NXN/NYNE had 2300! Has the tide really shifted?

How did Foot Locker screw this up? They were sponsoring the best thing about HS running for 2 decades and then one of their biggest customers - Nike - decides to do its own race. You'd think Nike would do something like that Nike Cross Nationals Presented by Foot Locker . Or have the individual champ called the Foot Locker champ?
