But I think you're confusing your Ryans. Barry coached Kevin Ryan who managed a 2:11. I've never seen anything about him coaching Mike.
Any video you have seen of Lydiard's hill bounding has been on GRASS. One Tree Hill and/or Auckland Domain. If you doing hill bounding on roads, then yeah, your legs likely shattered.
