Unbelievably upset win.
She was 25th in her region last year and didn't even make NCAAs.
In 2014 she was 7th in her region and 155th at NCAAs.
So from 155st to 1st.
Very impressive. Great run. I wonder if that's the biggest jump for an individual champ.
Karissa Schweizer won NCAAs this year and didnt even qualify last year

Schweizer went to the same high school as Katie Flood. In high school, Schweizer was a state champion as a freshman in track (3000), but she leveled off after that, finishing high at state but not winning any titles. Her brother ran 4:05 for the mile, 1:50 for the 800, and 49 for the 400 last year. He now runs for Notre Dame. Expect to see him do some things in the next few years, too.

She anchored winning 1600m medley to state title her senior year. She also made Nike Nationals her senior year. -

I would not say she leveled off after freshman year. I'd say she slowly improved but was also training smart so as to not peak too young. Stefanie Jenks also arrived after Schweitzers freshman year which was another reason she did not win more titles. Go back and look at her progression since high school and you will see continuous improvement. That said I for one would not have predicted this. This fall has been a true break out season and today was a big surprise. -
Even 6 months ago her 5K PR was 16:30. Women's side of NCAA has been weak, nice to see a talent emerging. Along with Rohrer and Katie Rainsberger, things looking up the next year or two.

extraordinary improvement there. She broke 16 in track but hadn't run faster than 16:32 before that. But even with 15:58, she figures to be 30-50 seconds or more behind the best women in the NCAA. And she did not have great speed, with a 2:12 in high school and 2:14 in college. Yet, she walked down the 2-3 runners like they were nothing at the end of the race.

Title fixed.

You cowards, if you want to start a thread about her possibly being on PEDs don't beat around the bush and start a " Wow she came outta nowhere" thread, we all know what you really mean.

What is a pantom.

After watching the interview, I honestly don't think she even had a clue in hell that she was capable of doing this - Ha! Incredible run and super effort - keep it roll'in!

Schweizer's interview was quite awesome, in addition to her running.
All three of the top women gave interesting interviews.
