Currently making my winter training plan (high school junior.) I specialize in the 3200 but also run the 1600. I am doing strides 2-3 times a week to maintain turnover because my workouts are all strength based- mostly 1ks, mile repeats, fartleks, and tempo runs. Should I incorporate the occasional faster workout like 12-16x400 with 2 minutes rest at 2 mile pace to get used to running that fast or are the strides enough and wait until spring track rolls around to hit the speedier stuff in workouts?
