Recently got a pair of nice running tights and every time I put them on I hear a stitch popping. Before any troll posts, I'm 5'7 and 125. Other than a few stitches being popped and loose, the tights are fine. Is this normal and known to happen? I haven't had many pairs before.

Sometimes things in life don't go exactly as planned. Occasionally a product that you purchase will fail. Often times the product will have what's called a warranty. A warranty is usually a written guarantee by the manufacturer that the product purchased will remain defect free for a given period of time.
Given that you said the tights were recently purchased, I think it's reasonable to assume that they are still under warranty. If that is the case you can contact the product manufacturer for repair, replacement or refund.

ps, this is why it is important to wear shorts over tights. No one wants to see your wardrobe malfunction. And if it malfunctions near a school zone, you might get locked up for indecent exposure and charged with a sex crime.

As per my post, no, it is not.
It has never happened to me with a proper fitting pair of tights (L, 6'0" 170 lbs). Your tights are defective or you purchased a size too small.
Tights are not invincible. You should put them on carefully and not pull on the seams too hard. Put them on like a pair of women's nylons to avoid excessive stress on the stitches.

Thank you all for your kind replies. I guess I may not have been clear. The tights fit quite well. If anything, they are slightly big. My sole question was whether it is normal for a couple of stitches to be loose. The tights themselves were and remain in great condition and serve their function as new. Cheers.
