I would guess that a person of 60 years would have a chance, but it would be interesting to see a chart of ages and times.

I'd find it very challenging to run a 400m in 28 seconds but I'll keep at it.
How many people could even run DOUBLE their age (in seconds) for 400 meters?
Oops, my bad, I see that this subject has been previously explored.
not me 28 is my 200
There is something of a movement to try to run :50 at age 50. Never been done before.
Much like shooting your age in golf, there is a window of opportunity that doesn't open until the athlete is well pest their prime, but achieving it is a real testament to longevity.
There are a few 50 year olds who are fast enough to run their age. I like doubling your age for time. I think I can run a 400 in less than 2 minutes.
this might be the dumbest thread i've read on this site yet, lol.
What selective subset of threads are you reading?

It becomes increasingly doable over age 55, but it is definitely difficult. It took me nearly two years of 400m-specific training to run my age in the M65 group. For perspective, about a dozen US runners and 100 worldwide did it in the M65 group in 2016.
The youngest guy to do it was 49 (last year).
When I was 44 I ran my age+11 (55); in 2017 I will be 60, and will be very happy if I can run my age +5. Maybe by 85 I'll pull off the +0.

Looks like nobody in their 40s has ever done it.
50s thru 80s some have.

A 300 might be a better distance for this one. Doing 300 in 44 seems more plausible for my old self than 400 in 44.

Let's just take a moment to imagine turning out a 60 second 400 at 70+ years old...

Absolutely boggles the mind!!
Pretty hard to run a 17 second 200m, so 400m would be twice as rough.

you're right. it's relatively inquisite compared to most threads.
It's easy. I run the 400 like the broken-down 47-year old that I am.
