I have only done a few workouts like this, but they seem like a nice tool to keep around. Does anyone have significant experience with these workouts?
For instance, a typical 5k peak/race sim/predictor might be 5x1k or 3x1mi with 45-75s walking/jogging rest.
A continuous run for 5k might be:
1k at goal pace
1k at GP plus 30sec/mi
1k GP
1k GP +30
1k GP
You're getting less time at GP, but recovering at what's still a pretty decent clip.
Two varieties that I've actually done:
8k peak/race sim
1mi GP
1mi GP+30
1mi GP
1mi GP
1mi GP+30
10k build workout (not one of the final, key workouts):
20x400 at GP, with 100m at GP+30 recovery.
Thoughts on pro/con of these continuous runs vs traditional short, very easy rest intervals?
