My Asics gel ds racer 4's are shot, help a brother out. Oh ya I train in them too but get a few miles out of them as much as a trainer. What racing flat should I buy next? I love cheap & lite, lol

The cheapest and lightest racers I know of are, in order of weight, the New Balance RC 150, the Addidas Cubota, the Asics Gel Magic and the Asics Gel Paw. Of the lot, I use the Paw regularly, like you, for racing and training. So I reckon that would be my choice.
The one across the road from the start line?
Does anyone recommend using a very lightweight racing shoe like the ones that HRE mentioned? I'm running a marathon in April and trying to decide on a shoe. I currently have the Brooks Hyperion Racer and they feel pretty good. I'm 6'1" and 147 pounds. Sub 2:26 goal pace.

Well, you're certainly the type who could wear those shoes, if anyone could. Personally I prefer something a bit more substantial for the marathon, but then again, I'm 6'0", 155 pounds and not nearly as fast as you.
How do your legs normally feel at the end of a marathon?
Could you provide some info about the Hyperion Racer, including how the forefoot cushioning is (is it too firm/harsh), how it's sized (runs small, large), how medially stable it is? Thanks.
There is a great discussion of racing flats at the link below... it might give you some ideas.
Any ideas on racers if you waer orthotics?
I normally dont race in my orthotics but am scared to go 26 miles without them.
Any suggestion?

Average_Joe: I have only run one marathon--two years ago. I was about 5 to 8 lbs heaver and not as fit as I am now. I ran 2:31 in the Hyperions on a flat course and my legs were trashed. I'm not sure if I can blame the shoes for the trashed legs. I did get pretty dehydrated. Not sure if that contributes to leg soreness after a marathon.
epberlin: The Hyperion Racer has a nice cushiony feel, which I like. They don't seem to have a lot of medial stability. Listed at 8.0oz. Size up 1 full size.
Thanks for the link DougC. Looks like the Cubato is popular. Maybe I'll give them a try.
