Hi guys, my sophomore xc season is over and I wanted to get outsider opinions on what I should do for track. My cross season has basically been a wash, as I couldn't run for 6-7 weeks because of a select soccer injury and had 2 weeks of training before my championship meet yesterday (at 20-30mpw).
I didn't run track last year because I played lacrosse. I'm also on the varsity soccer team, which means that I would only be able to get in 2-3 track workouts each week on top of 8 soccer practices/games.
9th Grade: 17:05 5k
4:48 mile (off xc training)
Ran a 57 high and 2:14 after 3 weeks of no exercise in the spring.
10th Grade: 18:1X 5k off a 25mi first week back.
Pulled a 58 400 at the end of a workout a week after starting to run after injury.
From here, is the 400/800 a better idea than the 800/1600? I have a good bit of natural speed, and the same burst speed in soccer as an 11.4 guy on the team.
I can provide more details about training, injuries, times, etc if needed.
Thanks!
