3 Ethiopian Athletes called into a radio talk show on radio fana and expressed there opinion about the WXC.
Seleshi Shine called in a broadcast of Radio fana sports talk show in Amharic and I listened on the internet radiofana.com
Radio Fana (RF): Did you watch the race?
SS I missed the first day because i was on a plane back to Ethiopia from Europe.
RF how are you doing health wise?
SS I over trained and it was too much load. At first they sent me back from Europe because they didn't see anything wrong. But when i didn't get better I went back for proper treatement. i am taking 15 days off and god willing i will be back.
RF Were you surprised by kenenisa's win?
SS Well i know what kenenisa can do. I know that he was struggling on harder surfaces and the track.. but when he is on grass mud nobody can catch this guy.
As soon as i arrived in addis i heard kenenisa won the 4km race.. I was sure that he would win the 12K because i believe the 4k is tougher than the 12k and so does kenenisa
For me watching the race was terrible.. because i want to be there.
RF: people were anxious when abebe they saw kenenisa and abebe (Dinkessa) talking. people were thinking kenenisa was telling him.. abebe win because i am tired..
SS no no kenenisa knows what he is doing .. he monitors the race carefully and knows what he needs to do. I was not worried.
RF One of the listeners that called in had an opinion that the kenyans tend to work together while the Ethiopian team didn't seem to be working together, what do you think?
SS (didnt answer the question) well i was surprised by the results of the race as well. I expected kipchoge to finish up top.. but he lost to Zeresenay. So the race was strange, Kipchoge lost control of himself at the end of the race .. keeping up with kenenisa is not easy and he was spent.. i was surprised.
RF Final Comment
SS Well i am happy with our team results, i was especially happy about Tirunesh.. who predicted the wins in the newspaper and did it. She has unbelivable abilities and her confidence was good.

The talk show focused on the construction of athletics camps. the callers asked.. when when when are we going to have a camp to develop athletes. They pointed out the big difference between Kenya and Ethiopia is that Ethiopia has zero running camps while kenya has many.
A representative of the Athletic federation gave some specific steps they are taking. Inluding 4 mini camps in 4 cities .. Maichew (North) Bekoji (South) Debre Brihan (center) i forgot. the 4th. But the construction on the main camp will not begin until, 12 05 rrrr!
One caller called from Kenenisa' village and his name was Bekele.. I wonder if he was his dad
Other callers.. included Hailu Mekonnen 1999 Junior champ
and Abebe Mekonnen boston 89 or 90 champ.
They both said they were amazed blah blah... nothing new.. but it was cool to hear from these guys.
abebe said.. we won most of the golds and the rest of the golds we left for our good nieghbours..
Hailu angrily responded.. there is a gap in the junior team that needs to be closed immediately, we never should give up a gold medal.
(abebe was joking but hailu didn't like the joke)
Next week the athletes will be interviewed and i will translate and post it to the best of my ability.
until then.. Ethio boy signs off..
In a few hours i will wake up and go to the stadium .. and maybe i can shake hands with KENEISA AMBESA
