Hi Im a distance runner. For track I run the 1500m and the 3000m. I want to try a jumping event. Im 6 ft tall and 125 lbs. With my height and weight would you assume that I would be good at triple jump or long jump. Also I am pretty fast if that helps. Thanks. Also please add some training advice for the jumping events you think I should do.
Never ever do the triple jump it will mess you up real bad... it's so unnatural, doesn't make any sense. As for the long jump, you need to have a high maximal speed, which milers and two milers often don't have. Maybe by training for it you'd get in some max speed sessions, but I don't really see the point for you.

better do high jump
How long will it take me to actually get overthe thing thoygh. Isnt high jump really hard

Diego is right. Triple jump is an absolutely brutal event, second only to the javelin. I will not coach the event to anyone under 15-16 years old. Even then, they need to be very athletic and be very, very coordinated.
High jump as mentioned would be a much "better" natural jumping event given your build (tall and thin).
Technique is much more important than strength or speed in the high jump, although you need both.
NB: The US National Shot Putters have a higher overall vertical than the US National High Jumpers - something to think about.
You mentioned high jump being hard; "Do you want easy?".
