This is really sad news, no matter what people think of his history, he is human. Best of luck to him.
This is absolutely awful I really hope the best for Tyson and his family
Have a 12 yr old daughter. This has to be the worst. But why is a 15 yr old be out at 4am? No parent allows this sort of thing obviously. She had to of snuck out of the house. Tragic.

Sources seem to indicate that she was in a restaurant and was hit by stray bullets? What teenager hasn't gone to a Waffle House or something late at night with friends? It seems like a pretty normal teenage thing to do just a horrible tragedy
Very sad. I'm no fan of Tyson as an athlete, but this is a tragedy. Hopefully the authorities are able to catch the shooters. Keep us updated Let'sRun.
awful news. condolences to Tyson Gay and their family. Being out at 4 a.m. is an obvious issue that would merit attention for the parents, who may not have known she was out. A murder is on an entirely different level and should be completely distinguished from the former. Anyone who thinks that guns should be so easily accessible in this society has a screw loose.
Damn dude, hope the family recovers well. RIP

Since one of us has to ask: what the heck was a 15 year old girl doing downtown at 4am?
Very, very sad. It's easy to blame this on parenting, but we've ALL done these things. Sneaked out at night, come in late.
But these days, kids are getting shot. They still have a memorial up around here for a teen girl who was hit by a stray bullet while attending a late night "girl fight" at a gas station.

This.
The fact that the first impulse for so many of you is to criticize the girl/parents and not the shooting itself is disgusting.
A teenager being out late at night isn't a problem until it's made a problem (e.g. by the presence of hooligans with access to guns).

It wasn't. She was hit by a stray bullet from a gunfight that erupted nearby among 2 cars. Says so in the article.

Americans, get your gun violence problem under control. You are an embarrassment.
Almost correct. It's not just a gun violence problem, but a violence problem, especially a city-violence problem and a gang-violence problem.
Very, very sad news. Condolences to Tyson Gay and his family.
What a terrible tragedy.
I am a bit sickened that people are asking what she was doing out at 4:00 a.m. None of your fvcking business. It's time for compassion, not judgement.
This is a terrible tragedy. Our condolences and prayers to the Gay family.
Now and this thread is not the time to debate the the causes of murders in America but to pay our respects to a life tragically ended short .
This sucks. Prayers for the Gay family and the Lexington community.
What a terrible tragedy. I hope the criminals who did this are brought to justice.
So sorry for the girl and her family. Losing a child is one of the most heart wrenching tragedies a person can suffer. So sad. I have nothing to offer but prayers and tears.
Holy sh!t. How sad. I don't have any other words.
