Not a bad effort.
Not a bad effort.
He is now 34 yo (born April 1982). This is his 13th marathon. He has run faster 3 times:

Agreed, and not let up to by a bunch of hype like the trials disaster.

My point was that he had a nice effort time after a pair of 2:27s this year (Trials and Grandmas) run in hot conditions. I think he is running without a major/shoe sponsor. Give the guy credit for continuing to live the dream.
He finished almost 10 minutes behind the winner! Not a good race.

Great to see a solid performance by him after some setbacks his last few races. As a fan of the sport, I enjoy seeing Fernando's tweets about his training. You have to give major credit to him for going to the big international gold label races and majors and giving his best shot. There are very few Americans running sub-2:15. He is a strong ambassador for American marathoning. Bravo!
I'd love to see this guy pop off a 2:08.
It's decent. I don't see why you guys get so fired up over this guy. He seems to thrive on adulation rather than letting his feet do the talking. Wasn't he the guy charging $400 per month for coaching? He is going to have to find another gig soon, he's good, but not good enough to make a dent internationally. If you aren't a threat to make an Olympic team and do some damage, at 34 he might want to start thinking about other things to do with his life.
wowthey are running so fast. crazy to think they were probably running sub 4:50 pace when he broke away like that so effortlessly and so smooth like it didn't hurt. makes my legs hurt thinking about it. 4:30 or faster surge?great coverage
