I just saw that Adidas has a new computerized running shoe. Is this shoe crap (aside from it's $250 price tag) or is it a decent show? Anyone try it? (Sorry if this has been posted on before - couldn't find any existing threads)

crap. you want to run with an extra two pounds on yer feet?
I hate pulling that extension cord around all over town with me. Couldn't they run this on a battery or solar power ?
Here's the site for the Adidas 1.
I can't imagine a computer chip could make for a good running shoe. And $250 bucks? Criminy!
Nonetheless, the full commercial is really neat. Makes me wanna go for a midnight run when i see it.
My dad saw these in Business Week, and wants to know if I want a pair for my birthday. Yikes. Methinks Trackhead would NOT approve!!!
you meant an extra 2 OUNCES right? The shows weigh in at 14.5 oz. A regular running shoe is in the 12 oz range.
Say what you will now, but Adidas has got something here and pretty soon you'll see all their shoes with the chip in them.

I hope not.
14.5oz is still an absolute brick.

YEAH RIGHT.
I was told by my adidas tech rep that the shoes weigh 15.4 oz.
I've tried it on, and run in it, and it's not that comfortable. Assuming you're not a heel striker, it's actually useless. There is Adiprene in the forefoot, and some form of hideous plastic in the midfoot.
You have to give it to Adidas: the shoe does what it says. The cushioning properties can be altered dramatically. You sometimes don't remember that it's the same shoe. However, although what's directly under your heel feels great, the outer end of your heel is under great discomfort from that mass of polyurethane.
It's an okay idea, but it's way too expensive for how mediocre it feels, and even that assumes you're a heel striker.
Sounds like the same reviews everyone gave to Bowerman's progressive designs. The first airplane looked like a treehouse and now we have jet fighters. Progressive thiking should always be rewarded. Adidas deserves applause for taking a great step towards unimaginable gifts to running with this idea for the future. Most importantly injury prevention. I'm sure ths design will only get better and better. They probably had to get the idea out on the market asap before it was either stolen or copied.
Pretty funny all of you talking about how heavy 14.5 oz. is. Hell, my normal shoes are 16 oz...a size 15 never did anything good for weight reduction....oh well...Still, I'd never trust my shoes if they had a computer in them, we got too many of em' elsewhere.
Generally, you ought to be looking to wear as little shoe as you can get away with. This is the exact opposite of that idea. This is WAY more shoe than anyone could need. I think I'll stick with the Tiger Paws I get off Eastbay for $40.
