I have noticed over the past few years that collegiate indoor times have soared. The times are getting quicker and the numbers running the fast times increasing. I am also noticing that many of these athletes fail to reach these same times outdoor. Why do you think this is happening? Are the indoor tracks getting faster with the banking, surface, over-sized, etc. to the point that many are significantly faster than outdoor? Are the coaches and athletes pointing more toward indoor than in the past? Are the plethera of indoor facilities pushing more teams to quality indoor work without regard for outdoor? Are the ideal indoor conditions favorable over outdoor's unpredictable winds and weather? Any ideas on this subject?
