I wanted to know more or less what is the ideal weight for 5k-10k or in general long distance running. Assuming I'm 5'9 with medium body width (not narrow but not very wide as well), how much would an efficient wieght?

5-9, 135, 47 yrs old....
If you're 5'9", at 30 y.o. You should be 139
At just a hint over 5' 8", I ran my PRs in the 5k and 10k in college at 140. I was skinny as heck, but have a broader torso than most other skinny distance runners, so I am probably on the higher side. I would say that, all other things being equal, at 5' 9", 130-135 lbs would be pretty common.
Of course, things are never equal - how you feel at different weights, how much muscle you naturally carry and where you carry it, how much you would have to adjust your diet to lose "excess" weight are all different for different people. There is no "one size fits all" approach to weight.
Look at the fastest guys who run 5K to 10K and go by their body weight. Probably 120-130 at most, and narrow body width instead of medium.
