The episode plot and establishing scenario is quite a bit different from the SFH story.
Does it harken back to the SFH story of a bipolar escort? Yes. After that the connections gets tenuous. The show drivers used a young aspiring athlete not a seasoned veteran of three OGs. The only similarity is that a present day athlete has a bipolar life as a bar hooker and that bipolar SFH was an internet based escort after retirement from athletics.
I'm sure the bipolar hooker has been done a number of times as a plot device in any number of TVshows and movies. The raped prostitute is an often used plot device in many shows in this TV series, the L&O family of shows and other police procedurals.
In no way was this episode about SFH's story of her battle with a mental disorder. The two pronged plot was about how bipolar disorder manifests as extreme emotional highs and lows for those who suffer from it and the legal issues of prostitute rape.
Am I naïve enough to think the SFH as 'a hooker exposed' story was not a motivator is selecting one of the establishing elements of the this episodes plot?
Of Course Not
But I'm not buying into the idea this episode was based on a SFH experience and caused legal harm to SFH.
