Before Newton decided there were 7 colours in the rainbow (well, he also said 5 in a nearby paragraph), there were 4 or 3. And he chose 7 for mystical reasons more than anything else, that there were 7 notes in the musical scale, and 7 days of the week.

Yeah ... it doesn't work that way. By your logic, brown is a full color system by itself.
Colors are not math, as much as this math major wishes they were ... I might have earned decent grades in art that way.

You're the moron. Red and blue are not primary colors. They are the result of mixing the HUE (cyan magenta or yellow) with VALUE (lightness) and INTENSITY.
Colors are also affected the pigment used and the substrate the primary colors are mixed on.
RGB = the primary ADDITIVE colors.
