Yes, because my purchases are delayed for at most three days.
I'm tired of Amazon's bullshit.
Plus both Amazon and eBay do not encrypt your traffic other than log in, once you sign in you incoming data is at the whim of the hackers/phishers.

Other than your login/address/credit card data (which is all encrypted) do you think hackers are after?
To those that say that Netflix is better than Prime Video, I agree but only slightly. A few years ago Netflix was the clear cut winner, but Amazon's video library has been expanding like crazy and I'd say it's pretty close now. There are a lot of things you can get on Prime that aren't available on Netflix now.
Anyone that has a small child knows how great Amazon Prime is.

I have Prime, Netflix, HBOgo, and Hulu and I still think Netflix takes home the cake.
But for real, just get prime if you buy stuff on Amazon, its really worth it IMO

Why is it more expensive to stream Netflix on Amazon (or do you mean FireTV)?
Posted the Amazon employee. (It's a joke)
Seriously though, SHO and HBO content is not rolled into the $90/yr. You pay a subscription rate for those two distributors each month. At another $100/yr for EACH subscription It's hardly a deal.
Tons of the better content is an extra fee. We've spent way more on Amazon's content than we did at Netflix. Overall, it is a terrible consuming experience.
Regarding your Dad, I'm assuming he's using your account and doesn't have to deal with Amazon's ridiculous upsells when you are not a Prime member.
HBO content is included with the $99 a year subscription, there is no newer content, but most of the old series are there. Prime video is not as good as Netflix. But it's a strong alternative, and nice to have when you've already viewed everything in your Netflix queue worth watching.
The interface on Prime Video sucks on most platforms. It's not easy to find stuff beyond what's new and trending and the search is wonky. I tried searching for The Americans once by typing "Americans" and it wasn't listed anywhere in the results, I had to out the "The" on there to get it.
It's also not compatible with Chromecast.
For all its flaws, it's worth $99 a year (cheaper than Netflix) you get free shipping, Prime music (also kind of crappy) and one free book rental a month.

This is why Amazon has prime, for stupid people like this.
Ebay has all that I want, and the prices are competitive.

Amazon Prime for the most part has better prices than eBay but of course you can occasionally find something cheaper. There is a certain protein powder I get for just under 35 on Amazon and the cheapest I've found on eBay is $12 more. Occasionally I find something cheaper thru eBay and it's clearly some dude selling crap out of his house. Returns are infinitely easier thru Amazon and many (maybe the majority) of the items purchased thru eBay are not returnable. Laptops, used clothing and tools, stuff like that is what eBay is for.

That's an outright lie. Amazon prime is always higher priced than Ebay.
There is a certain protein powder blah blah
See my nickname.
I've been using Ebay for years, and have always received 100 refunds when not satisfied.

Ah, yes. Your nickname is "Stupid people". I can tell that you're very proud of that.
I don't even understand how ebay is in the discussion.
Amazon gets everything to me in 36 hours, and often as little as 6 hours. If I want to return anything, I don't have to be "unsatisfied" or deal with people. I just click a button and leave the box outside. The refund is instantaneous, and the box is gone the next day. If I'm not sure what I want to buy, I'll buy ten products so I can look at them all, and return the ones I don't want. If you try to do that on a regular basis with ebay, you're going to have a terrible rating.
The ease of shipping and returns is reason enough to use Amazon, even if it were more expensive. But it's really not. Typically ebay has better prices when they're selling something without a manufacturer's warranty or with a no-return policy. And for lower end goods, any advantage is often swallowed by the shipping cost.

I used to use Amazon about once every month or two when free shipping started at $25. Now that it is $50 I only do a couple orders at Christmas time. I'm wondering if others have also stopped or if most just pay for prime.
PRIME
Between me and my wife, the annual fee pays for itself. Walmart prices are sometimes, but the shipping inconsistent. Sometimes it is a couple of days and sometimes it can be a couple weeks. Btw, Amazon has everything, but Walmart only sells the low end of every product.
I don't use Amazon because I hate the format of the site. I also don't buy enough or watch enough media for Prime to be worth it. Plus, many Ebay sellers drop ship from Prime, so you can get the benefits without having to pay for it.
They use the email and last digits of your credit card data for phishing scams.
I noticed Amazon's data is now encrypted through searches and not just log ins. Its the ignorant users who still use RC4 (big no no) or don't have a TLS 1.2 enabled browsers that get compromised, part of the fault is the browser makers. Also the Windows operating system, certificate manger needs to be analyzed for obsolete and compromised SSL certificates, Windows update doesn't do that by default. It has to be done manually, and most users don't know how.
Prime is $70 a year lol, not only do you get free shipping on a ton of stuff you get Amazon TV subscription. Definitely worth it.
Pay for Prime, it is worth it for the original TV and movies.
They had to raise the shipping price when they started using those drones.
to echo what others have stated, I think Prime is exceptionally good value. For reference I'm in the UK but I assume pricing is comparable.
I was paying £5.99 a month for Netflix (£72 a year). For £79 a year, one off payment, I now get Prime video (just as good as Netflix IMO), all those free next day deliveries, Amazon family (discounts on nappies / diapers, loads of other baby stuff. Have 2 young'uns so this is a huge bonus for me), kindle lending library, unlimited photo cloud storage etc.... In summary, an extra £7 pretty well spent.
There is also Prime music, but I still keep my spotify subscription, the 2 aren't comparable yet.
