I used to use Amazon about once every month or two when free shipping started at $25. Now that it is $50 I only do a couple orders at Christmas time. I'm wondering if others have also stopped or if most just pay for prime.

I just pay for prime. Well worth it
I stopped using it when Prime came out and it started taking like 9 days to ship something to non-Prime members.
They don't care about me because I only used Amazon about once a month or so... If i used it more, I would probably go with Prime.
It is just easier for me to go to the store and get things than wait for over a week for crap to arrive. Paying for the slow shipping is just even more frustrating.
Walmart usually has better prices (and less selection) than Amazon and also has free shipping for $50 orders.
They do have specific algorithms to determine who to care about.. It's most of their computing power.

Why are you buying crap? How can it be crap if you need it immediately?
I average 3-4 orders a week. Prime.
Although recently I've also been using Jet, which has significantly better prices on some stuff and also free shipping if you meet an order minimum.
I just go a bit longer between orders so that I hit the $50 minimum. So I use Amazon less frequently, but I probably spend about the same total amount of money.

Always compare Amazon, Walmart and Target for prices. Shipping has different requirements for each. It is easier to get Amazon to take back a product than returning something to Walmart. Walmart customer service never scores well.

Yeah, but there's lots of tattoed hot chicks there, riding around in carts.

This. I haven't stopped using Amazon, but I'm increasingly using other sites over Amazon. The first time my order took more than a week I was a little peeved. Fast shipping is Amazon's major advantage over me just going to the store.
Although I have never had a problem returning something to Walmart. They literally do not care.

People who shop at Walmart are a basket of deplorables.

Absolutely, and good for them. It doesn't bother me, I just realized it wasn't prudent for me to use them anymore.

Why do you hate Pepe?

Haha, not actual crap. I am talking about general stuff that I would have to go to 2 or 3 stores to grab. So a recent order was a book, some tea tree oil, and a soccer ball. Nothing urgent but not worth spending $9 to wait 9 days.
I am not criticizing Amazon, just answering the OP.
Yes
When I see something I want on Amazon, I add it to my shopping list. When the list hits $50, I seal the deal.

Must be nice having all that white privilege.
With Amazon Prime you not only get free 2 day shipping, free 1 day and sometimes same day shipping over $35 (where I live anyway). You get Prime Video (and stop paying for Netflix although Netflix slightly better) and Prime music which is as good as Pandora or Spotify w/o the commercials. Need a pair of socks, boom, 2 seconds it's on its way. Part for my bike, I can spontaneous purchase and have it sooner than if I went to the bike shop and spent double. My life is better as a result of Amazon Prime....there, I said it.

Also pretty cool to have purple petunias!
