Yes.
It's magic! They take mediocre athletes like Alistar Cragg and do secret workouts. Come on man. They get great athletes and run the hell out of them. You would probably be suprised at how simple it really is.
16 x 400m (1min rec)@ 60secs
I think McDonnell has developed some athletes that were sort of average in high school and there are a few transfers that have developeded considerably once they got to Fayetteville. It's not just the precollege elites that do well in the Ozarks.
I have heard the Hawgs are forced to run outside even when it's cold.
Yes!
Who doesn't run outside when its cold? It has gotten to 15 deg. here, and we have always ran outside. I would not think an entire collegiate team goes and runs an hour on a treadmill?
Also, Just a Dude, I am going to the Tyson Inv. in two weeks. Should I try to talk to someone while I am there?
If so, who should I talk to? I have still not contacted anyone from Ark.
BIGGER question!! If I have not applied to UofA yet, and the deadline has already past, can they (coaches) get me accepted even without a scholarship?
Ooooh... 15 degrees.. Try -15 and then come and talk about running outside.
Does anybody have any info on the yearly periodization or the general scope of Arkansas' training?
I think it would be fascination to look at the training of the major successful programs: We have a pretty good idea of what Oregon did (from Dellinger's book, very interesting), we know basically what Colorado does (thanks to Running With the Buffaloes and Irv Ray's extra information), but we don't really know what Wisconsin, Stanford and Arkansas do. I geuss that after this year you could add EMU to this shortlist--maybe.
you missed the deadline for fall admissions to... Arkansas? Are you kidding me? Go to the website and check on admissions deadlines. The deadline for fall apps is mid-
August. This isn't Harvard we're talking about here.

For those other special readers who need additional explanatory text--duh, I was joking.
Sort of like saying Oregonians have to run even when its raining. Or Coloradans when it feels like there isn't qute as much air up there. Or like Trojans when the air quality isn't real high. Or...got it yet?
Actually, they do have this really big treadmill in Fayetteville. I, being economically challenged, have to simulate a treadmill by choosing my running course each day.
