Rojo. On one hand, I see the reason to communicate his efforts, as it may help raise awareness about running to a more general audience. That is always a good outcome.
In doing so, however, it seems to somehow demote the people who frequent your webpage. To alleviate that, I'd also note to the same audience that ex-HS and college runners (like myself) that are now 50 years old (like myself) are still plugging away in absolute obscurity for the PURE LOVE OF RUNNING. I'm a 50 yo runner still plugging away at 40-50 mpw. I don't post my mileage or times like Troy Aikman does because they are no big deal... But for sake of comparison, yesterday, on an EASY day, I ran 12K at 4:30/K pace (7:15/mi) - a pace at which I guess I would have dropped Troy Aikman. And there are obviously thousands of other 50 yo guys just like me out there still sticking to their routines and loving the process of running. We are the guys that run no matter what the weather looks like, pick up our age group awards to about 20 people still clapping at the local 10K race, and go back about our business the next day. Troy Aikman, though more popular to a wider audience, definitely can't hang with a bunch of 50 yo's running age-graded 80+ points every other weekend (like I train with). So in promoting Troy to get the masses running, also note that there are countless other guys still working hard, running intervals into the wind, with no expectations other than feeling great one more time in a race, kicking-a$$ the final 800m. God Bless. Good night.
