I live in your area, am a member of two different clubs...and usually don't show up for club runs. It's just so much easier to lace up and go on my own. But when I do go I enjoy it for the human interaction, and sometimes I get some good advice from other members.
This is good advice. I don't belong to a club right now, mainly because of time constraints with a full time job, commute, wife, kids, etc. It's so much more efficient to head out on my own. I've run with a club before, and found major benefits to be friendships and networking. Track workouts with others can be a huge benefit for your running, provided you control yourself and don't race others. But for easy, long and tempo runs I prefer to run alone based on effort or pace work and not have to worry about outpacing/keeping up with others.
