In every news article or program on Farah, it mentions how tough it is for him because he spends months and months away from his wife and kids.
My question is why?
I get the altitude thing, but his "teammate" Rupp spends the majority of his time at sea level in Portland with just a few trips here and there to Park City it seems.
Why on earth does Farah feel like he needs to jet off to Kenya, Ethiopia, and so on for months at a time abandoning his wife and kids.
The logic just doesn't make sense. Why should we feel empathy for him when he volunteers to leave his family when, as demonstrated by his teammate, it's not a requirement or even necessity to reach the top.
The framing of this story boggles my mind.
You could just as easily frame it as a husband choosing to let his kids grow up without a father figure.
