Good sprinter? Good distance runner? Good mid-D? What would that genetic combo be like?

They would need to have sex for that to be possible. Can't see that ever happening bro.

LOL, it's obviously never happening. But hypothetically....
I think basically Centro but a bit taller. Maybe steeplechase could be an option, too. 1500 to 5k.

I like that answer. You think faster than Centro or about the same?

I don't know if this is an old wives' tale, but have heard you get athletic skills more from your mom's side, so I'm going to say faster as Allyson Felix is a sprinter.

That's awesome, I wish some of these runners is different events would hook up so we could see how this would play out.

Can't see it happening? But would you watch it happening?
I'd watch

That's clearly not true.
There is large % of NBA players that have dads that were in the league.
Then of course, the guy that you mentioned, has a 2x Olympian.
With that said, it would be a shame to waste a Felix/Rupp child on the steeplechase.
Would mess up hand offs and need an inordinate number of hats to finish a race, would not want on my team.
I'm sure Salazar has the money and technology to bypass this step...

Between punted batons and getting spiked/tripping their training partners in traffic I think they better stick to the 100/200 solo event
Borzov had a child with a multiple medal Olympic gymnast. The child was never a world class athlete, I don't even know if the child bothered to do competitive sports. Agassi and Graf's kids could be guinea pigs for nature over nurture.Hey now wrote:

It is also clearly not true that a "large % of NBA players have dads in the league." It is no more than 5%.
The genetic components that make a good sprinter and the genetic components that make a good distance runner are both extremely complex and varied (and admittedly not that fully understood/researched). Also, there isn't necessarily much overlap.
It seems quite possible their child wouldn't be particularly good at anything. A partial selection of elite sprinter genes and a partial selection of elite distance runner genes could very easily end up creating a mediocre distance runner who can also sprint at a mediocre level.
The combination and interaction of multiple genes could be equally as important as the individual genes.
Likewise, they could end up with an elite marathoner for one child and an elite 100m runner for the next, followed by a slow kid that trips over his feet for the third.
Good for a divorce.
I would be interested in knowing how good a child of Look The and Felix would be
The child could easily end up being mediocre at running. Mixing the DNA of a fast twitch parent with that of a slow twitch parent could easily produce a child with average ratios. Genetics is funny like that. It takes generations for the right combination of genes to produce a gifted person.
When I coached high school, I had a girl on my team whose dad was the state record holder in the mile (4:05) and mom who had been a state qualifier in the 220y (mid-26 range). She ended up being a 26 flat, 59 flat runner. Great kid, hard worker, but she definitely did not have her dad's talent level. I'm not sure if she even had mom's talent level, considering that she barely ran faster than her mom even though daughter had better training, better equipment, and better tracks to run on.
The offspring I am very interested in seeing are the children of Ashton and Brianne Eaton. I would imagine those kids would be able to choose just about any sport they want with the mix of athletic skills they should have.
I’m a D2 female runner. Our coach explicitly told us not to visit LetsRun forums.
