Korir said his drink and Biwott's were inadvertently swapped, causing stomach problems for each, resulting in a DNF for both.

Similar thing happen to Tergat in 2004, believe he finished though.
What kind of fluid is good for one elite but causes stomach problems for another? That's ridiculous.
They both took a dive for Rupp, that's what happened. Medals are big corporate business in the west.
Another ridiculous Kenyan excuse.

Agreed. What kinds of fluid are they drinking?

Laxative in one, Imodium in the other. Gotta know your body.
I know with the case of tergat in 2004, he missed his water which was supposed to be at like room temperature, and had to get some water from like of fiscal which was cold and caused him to cramp.

Excuses, excuses. I'll believe it if Stanley says so. Wesley, on the other hand, is every inch the politician and had no business being on the team taking the place of potential medalists Dickson Chumba or Cyprian Kotut.
The article takes at face value the suggestion that Kenya could have swept the medals if this didn't happen. That's ridiculous. Korir shouldn't have been on the team.

I think it's obvious which fluids you've been drinking.

More likely Korir was undertrained and knew he was going down in flames so he dropped out, while once Biwott realized out he wasn't likely to medal he dropped out to save his legs for a fall marathon payday.
Hats off to Kipchoge for taking it seriously and going for the medal when he could probably have made a lot more money by running in New York, Chicago or Berlin this fall.

One can only drink tequila, the other can only drink vodka. And neither can drink the other because of that one night back in 2007 they'll never forget.
Let me make this clear for you all
TIA
This is Africa.
Does anyone know if that's an offensive phrase?

No, but it is a stupid phrase coined in a mediocre mid-2000s movie that no one should use.

Yep, and what's more it caused problems for both of them. What are the chances of that?
I wonder if this switch occurred for all aid stations or just one.

He still can and probably will, why wouldn't he? He's just cruised around the Rio marathon 5minutes 39seconds slower than his London April 2016 PB, he can now make a lot more money running a fall marathon as Olympic champ in one of the Marathon Majors. Chicago maybe and go for the WR?
https://www.worldmarathonmajors.com/47 days 17 hours to Chicago, plenty of recovery time for EK.
Rule 40 violation for Korir?

Is there a rule against attaching a helium balloon to yourself while running a road race?
Am I living in the twilight zone? The Boston Marathon weather was terrible!
How rare is it to run a sub 5 minute mile AND bench press 225?
Move over Mark Coogan, Rojo and John Kellogg share their 3 favorite mile workouts
Mark Coogan says that if you could only do 3 workouts as a 1500m runner you should do these
Red Bull (who sponsors Mondo) calls Mondo the pole vaulting Usain Bolt. Is that a fair comparison?
