Is it possible? Because, I'm looking at something that didn't come from the stomach (no acidic smell), doesn't look like food, or snot, and sure looks like it came from a lung.

probably you're just looking at some crap your lungs coughed up.
if you're seeing grey/green/yellow phlegmy stuff, it's just junk you're lungs are getting rid of - you've probably got some low-key illness... I even get junk after hard indoor workouts.
I'd get any other coloured stuff checked out (blood is bad, for instance), but I seriously doubt you're coughing up lung chunks.
That said, I'm no doc, so get yourself checked if it freaks you out.
I'm used to coughing up nasty stuff, but this was a whitish to light tan solid yet still soft "spongy" tissue like substance. I showed it my fiancee who is a RN and she wanted me to save it to show to a doctor, but I have no health insurance so...
If you are not a troll, go to the emergency room NOW.
I usewd to suffer from severe chest colds as a kid. Once I was coughing and a piece of what looked like bronchiole(sp?) came up. It looked like a pinkish forked straw. Nobody believed me so I never got it checked out. That was in 1981.
the exact same thing happened to me once...no kidding...i was a senior in high school (20+ years ago). i took 3 or 4 cheap "speed" pills (they were popular at the time) prior to my first period class. by the end of 4th period i was in the boys room coughing/gagging/puking my guts out...no pun intended, because a chunk of tissue that exactly matches what you described came out of me. it was smooth on one side and spongy on the other. there was no blood. it scared the hell out of me, but i never told anyone, and nothing bad happened. in retrospect, maybe that's why i never made world class(ha).
in any case, i wish i had gone to the dr. then...just for peace of mind...and i would advise you to. if nothing else, maybe you can tell me what the hell it is!
it was the same color too....tan. it sort of looked like the stuff you would find inside your couch cushions.
That's normal. Take a picture and post it somehwere for us to view. If you are not dead by then, maybe someone who knows can tell you what it is, and what to do.
What could they possibly do at the Doctor's? They can't replace it or do much as far as treatment goes..
an explanation would be nice!
