The TV coverage showed that the runners were at 2600m with 1 lap to go (and 2200m with 2 laps, 1800m with 3 laps). Is that correct?

I think it would depend on the track.
Need the distance from the start line to the 200m line. Take that and divide by 7 and a half laps and subtract from 400 and you have your answer.

Distance from start line to 200m = 200m
So 400m - (200 / 7.5) = 373 meters
So if they ran the final "800" in 2:05, that was really only 746 meters, meaning they were running 2:14 pace.
You're an idiot.
You F-tards cannot read. How do you even use a web browser?
The official IAAF lap distance is stated above with a primary authoritative source.
Morans.

This is the kind of reply that makes me love letsrun. I'm laughing out loud.
Thank you for the responses. We have our answer. But seriously, what was this person thinking? Do you realize the start line for the Steeple is on the back straight? "Distance from start line to 200m = 200m" haha

Remember, the first full lap from the starting line is 400 meters. There no barriers until runners cross the finish line the first time and the first water jump is actually on the second lap.
The distance quoted on the IAAF diagram is only for the last 6.65 laps. The entire race is about 7.65 laps (200 meters + distance to start line from 200 start in lane 1)
RIP: D3 All-American Frank Csorba - who ran 13:56 in March - dead
