I don't think you understand how sweating works. Sweating does not depend on the talent level of the other people in the race nor any other personal attribute. Sweating depends the level of exertion. Running 15+ minutes for a 5000m should not make a 14:0x runner sweat very much.

The facts is that there are not really that many talented runners in women's distance running. Many of these girls have rarely, barely, or never broken 15:00.

I'm not normally one to jump on the PED wagons, but OP is right here. This is kinda ridiculous - she's just getting bored so she surges to keep her legs from tiring out.

She was the World Junior Record holder in the steeple (set 6 years ago) at 18 yrs old. She ran 14:25 3 years ago. It's not like she came out of nowhere.

I agree. WADA and the IOC sent a clear message from the beginning that it was going to a complete and total free for all when it came to drug usage. You had a coach caught with drugs in his hotel- nothing. A coach trying to take a pee test for his athlete!- nothing.

We may never know what these folks are taking but whatever the heck it is, it works really really really well.

She's a 14:12 runner running 15:04 and that's hard supposed to be hard for her? The 5,000m doesn't have a semi final....... And what world class runner did she lap other than one person who fell and has like a torn ACL? And she was never a avg steeple chase runner lol

I think it is you who does not understand sweating. I am a 14:24 5k runner and I am sweating like a whore in church 3 miles into 10-miler at 7 minute pace. I sweat all the time, even when I am walking to the damn car.

Sweating does not mean much at all. Sweating is down to a number of factors such as air temperature, dew point, how well an athlete naturally loses heat, clothing, body fat etc.

That isn't how sweating works either! You start to sweat when your temperature rises. It is independent of how close it is to maximum effort.

If what you are saying was true, you wouldn't sweat while sitting down outside in 100 degree weather, because it is an "easy effort" to sit down.

You should throw a fit and cry about it. She's going a minute faster in the final. That was a tempo run for her.
