Nike flyknit vs. lunaracer for marathon

I have raced in both. Never in Lunaracers for a full marathon though. Have run multiple marathons in Flyknit racers. The flyknits are more responsive/harder and with that comes the fact your legs will take a bit more of a beating and the soles of your feet will hurt more toward the end of the race. In my opinion the Flyknit feels and is a faster shoe. Since the midsole is not Lunarlon like the Lunaracer I have found it lasts a bit longer as well.

Ran Boston in lunar tempo loved them.. 2:33'ish pace..

No concerns couldn't tell the difference between racer and tempo' ....tempo had a bit more rubber which was nice after 13 miles... Less hot spots for me.

I chose the tempo over racer for the fit/ extra-rubber.

Weight is the same on my scale. So just went with tempo.

Ran a half in the racer out of the box new and also had no issues... Love them both.

Interesting. I've never even thought of the lunartempo. Which racers did you mean? The flyknit or lunars?

Idk if the flyknit is a good idea.. super light shoe mainly for workouts on softer grounds. I've done long runs in them and believe me my feet were sore. Now imagine a marathon. If anything i'd recommend wearing them with compression socks.

Wondering the same thing with the lunaracer but vs the Zoom Fly. I don't want to push out $250 but I can get a zoom fly for a decent price. Or I could continue wearing my lunaracer that I've worn the last couple marathons.

Thoughts for those who have run in both?

I have run in both. I thought the Zoom Fly was not a good alternative to the Lunaracer. Very firm, not forgiving, heavier. I was hoping for more cushion, but the Zoom Flys felt like bricks and after about mile 16 it was very harsh. I still use the Lunaracer for the marathon and it's still great!
