Summary: lived in a shared house for 15 days, then got kicked out for no reason. Did not receive any formal notification.
Here are the details, any advice is welcome.
Moved to a shared house on Aug 1st. Landlord lives in the property, along with 4 other people. It's a huge house. I had already told him I would like to stay for a whole year or more and that I could sign a lease, pay a deposit, no problemo. He said he didn't do leases but took the money for the first month of rent when I moved in. I believe that is enough to configure a 'verbal contract'.
When I came to visit the house before moving in, he didn't tell me about any renovation that was going on or going to happen. During my stay in the house, there were construction workers working on it 6 days of the week, mostly on the living room.
Last Friday he talked to me and I quite didn't understand what he meant. He asked why didn't I consider moving in with a friend or with my girlfriend. Weird talk, I had no clue what he was hinting at.
Yesterday, on Monday, he emails me some incoherent crap about the bank pressuring him to finish the renovation works asap and we should "resolve this problem". I still couldn't believe it, and replied to him asking what was the meaning of that. And that is how I learned I got evicted. I have to leave by Friday. He is going to start renovation work on my bedroom and that there is no option other than for me to leave. He gave me a grand total of 5 days to leave.
Letsrun, what are my options here? Should I take him to court? Should I lawyer-up right now? I have no interest in staying, of course, this guy is more unreliable than testing in Russian labs. I am willing to spend money to make him lose money.
