1:42.93 Bronze... that's 3rd All-Time behind Johnny Gray (1:42.60) and Duane Solomon (1:42.89).
Nick could never do what Murphy just did... the world will move on from the irrelevant white-boy Nick Symmonds.
Thankfully.

probably correct. Nick would of been 40 meters off the back with how fast that went out. THe days of winning in 1:45 like Wottle are over. You bave to be in the race to be in the race
There is no need to denigrate Nick because of Clayton's success. Nick has had an amazing career in which he had to work very hard to reach a 5th place in the Olympics, a silver medal in the World Championships, and a sub-1:43 PB.
But this does illustrate how amazing Clayton's success is. Let's enjoy the moment and celebrate all of those who have worked hard to achieve what Clayton has done and wish him continued success in the future.

Um. Nick did run 1;42.95 at the 2012 Olympic final. That's .02 slower than what Murphy ran today. So tosay he could never do it that isn't accurate.
The race played out perfectly for Murphy. Bosse and the young Kenyan went for gold and it cost them a medal, made it easier for Murphy.

You're drunk, Rojo.
Don't put it in the passive voice: it's not as if he had little to do with it. He ran an almost perfect race: just one glitch when he tried to slip between two guys at about 580. Otherwise everything was very smart: going out fast; tucking in immediately on the rail; holding off the Polish runner (yes, I don't want to look up how to spell his name) at about 600; passing Berian on the inside; not panicking and running relaxed. So many mistakes he could have made, but he didn't.

Would HAVE
MORON!
If this was 2012 he would've gotten the same place as nick did
So not sure if this makes him better
The race in 2012 was just stacked and incredible

Classless.
Here's something to think about: the 800 may be his second-best event when all is said and done.

Not sure what Symmonds being white has to do with it. Kszkot and Bosse are both very likeable despite being "white".
What makes Symmonds really unlikeable is that he spends ALL his time whining.

I don't think so, his 400 speed is mid 45 for a split, points towards a guy whose muscle fiber type distribution will likely be more of a factor in the 800. Also he just ran 1:42, but couldn't make the 1500 standard.

People here are just plain bad- like rotten bad. Think any of these turds would ever go up to another man and say these things? Hardly. Frustrated and angsty keyboard tough guys.
I see. We're supposed to forget about all of Symmonds' national titles, his 1:42.95, his several 1:43 low times, and many sub 1:44s, because Murphy just ran .02 faster than Symmonds' best and medaled?

This is the big question. He obviously hasn't run near his 15 potential due to a) poor races in the lead-up to OTs and b) peaking. Remember he PRd in the 800 at OTs and twice here. He definitely has the OQ in him for 15 and would have been a factor at OTs had he raced it--I wouldn't count out him kicking down Leo and Blankenship for the third spot...
The sub-1:43 puts him in a different category 800-wise, he'd have to run what, 3:30-31? Sub-3:30? as a 15 equivalent. Regardless, his style of racing is perfect for both and he should be a threat for a while.

If you don't know how to spell Lewandowski yet...man, you really don't follow middle distance closely. A tip though, just start writing the name of someone in the search bar and it will automatically fill inn the rest if its someone famous.
Lewandowski has been in these finals:
- 2009 WC (8th)
- 2011 WC (4th)
- 2013 WC (4th)
- 2015 WC (7th)
Including several European championships and medals. Theres a world outside Oregon, Montesquieu.

wasn't Symmonds a d3 guy and Murphy a D1 1500 champion?
